Dr. Sarah Becker
Registered in AB / Licensed in BC
Managing Partner
Dr. Sarah Becker is a Registered Psychologist whose clinical work includes therapy and psychoeducational and clinical assessment. Her primary areas of practice include mood and anxiety concerns, PTSD and trauma, relationship issues, and psychoeducational assessment.
Sarah believes that her role as a psychologist involves walking alongside her clients while offering an objective and informed perspective. Because people often seek therapy when they are looking for change, she works with clients to identify patterns in their lives that may be helping or hindering the changes they desire. Sarah views people as naturally adaptive and understands psychological distress as something that can arise when adaptations that once served us no longer work within our current circumstances.
Her therapeutic work often involves helping clients understand how their experiences and relationships have influenced the ways they see and interact with the world, while exploring new strategies for coping and moving toward a valued life. Across both her clinical work and research, Sarah emphasizes individual strengths while recognizing the systemic and contextual barriers people may encounter.
Sarah completed her PhD in Counselling Psychology at the University of British Columbia, where her research focused on Indigenous women’s career decision-making experiences. She is also involved as a facilitator with Wounded Warriors Canada and the Veterans Transition Network, serving first responders, military veterans, and their families through group-based trauma treatment programs, including the Trauma Resiliency Program and COPE programs.
Sarah also conducts psychoeducational and clinical assessments for clients in Nanaimo and surrounding areas. Her approach to assessment is both diagnostic and problem-solving, with the central aim of helping clients identify ways to better meet their educational, personal, and career-related goals within their own context.

Dr. Michael Sorsdahl
CD, PhD, PsyD, CCC, GCDF
Managing Partner / Licensed Psychologist
Dr. Michael Sorsdahl is a Registered Psychologist in British Columbia and Alberta with more than 20 years of clinical experience. He works primarily with adults and couples, as well as adolescents in appropriate contexts. His practice supports individuals who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected, often following prolonged stress, trauma, or periods of high responsibility. Many of the people he works with include first responders, military members, men, professionals, and individuals navigating complex life, relationship, or career transitions.
Michael has extensive experience working with trauma and PTSD, including the cumulative effects of chronic stress and exposure to high-demand environments. He also works with concerns related to anxiety, burnout, depression, and relationship strain. Clients often seek therapy when their usual coping strategies are no longer effective, emotional responses become more difficult to manage, or stress begins to affect functioning at work, at home, or within close relationships.
His approach is informed by training in both counselling and clinical psychology, including an MA in Counselling Psychology, a PhD in Education focused on counselling, and a PsyD in Clinical Psychology. His work is grounded in evidence-based, trauma-informed practice. Therapy is collaborative and paced, with careful attention to safety, emotional regulation, insight, and practical skill development. Michael works with clients to understand patterns of response shaped by experience, stress, and trauma and to develop more adaptive ways of coping with and engaging in life’s demands.
With couples, Michael focuses on understanding relational dynamics, strengthening communication, and exploring how stress or trauma may affect connection, trust, and intimacy. When working with adolescents, he emphasizes emotional regulation, coping skills, identity development, and communication while thoughtfully collaborating with families when appropriate.
Across his practice, Michael emphasizes ethical, respectful care and building internal capacity rather than pursuing quick fixes. His approach is not about “fixing” people, but about developing greater clarity, stability, and more effective ways of responding to challenges. His aim is to support meaningful and sustainable change that helps clients feel more grounded, connected, and capable in their daily lives and relationships.
Michael currently offers online and in-person psychological counselling and support in Nanaimo, Victoria, and Duncan, and throughout British Columbia and Alberta.
